How to choose knitwear
Neckline. A turtleneck gives the most warmth and sits neatly under the collar of a coat. A crewneck is the easiest to layer over a shirt. A V-neck or a cardigan leaves room for a collar to show.
Fit. A relaxed or oversized sweater looks intended when the rest of the outfit is slimmer - straight trousers or a slip skirt. A fitted knit works under a blazer or a tailored coat without adding bulk.
Fabric. Where the maker states what a knit is made of, the product page lists it. Blends with synthetic fibres hold their shape and wash more easily; follow the care instructions on the label to keep a knit from stretching.
Care. Most knitwear lasts longest washed cold, by hand or on a gentle cycle, and dried flat rather than hung.
