How to choose a men's coat

Length. A coat that ends at the upper thigh works with casual clothes and is easiest to wear every day. An overcoat that ends at or below the knee covers a blazer or suit jacket and is the more formal choice.

Fit. If you will wear it over a suit jacket or a heavy sweater, the shoulder seam should sit slightly past your natural shoulder and the sleeves should cover a jacket's cuff. Compare the chest measurement on the size chart with a coat you already own.

Colour. Charcoal and navy go over almost anything; camel lifts grey and black. A parka is the practical choice for rain and cold; an overcoat is the smarter one.
